Mertec Engineering AG - Noora
The region around Ras al Khaimah (UAE) has huge amounts of high-quality limestone. It is used for special exposed concrete. Its white colour is used primarily for decorative buildings and is a niche product.
Project
Merctec Engineering AG and Frei Fördertechnik AG were responsible for the planning of the system, its manufacture as well as for installation and commissioning. Local companies did the construction work and silo building. Key components were produced in Switzerland. Simpler work was done locally by steel and sheet metal workers.
Special features
- Collaboration with an Indian engineering firm that had prepared the tender and represented the client on contractual matters
- Persuasive efforts when project changes became necessary
- Difficult conditions for installers and project managers due to the summer heat in Ras al Khaimah
