Project
We were commissioned by the Migros Lucerne cooperative to comprehensively renovate and expand the existing container conveyor system. As part of the integration of a new container washing system (GWA), the entire connection technology between the washing line and the existing container stack buffer storage was modernised and designed for significantly higher throughput rates.
Requirement
The new washing line with three parallel tracks achieves a maximum throughput of up to 2,400 containers per hour. The existing conveyor technology was no longer able to handle this throughput. The aim was to create a high-performance, future-proof conveyor solution that:
- Ensures reliable transport of containers from the GWA to the buffer storage
- Enables stacking and sorting according to RFID identification
- Meets fire protection requirements (EI30 and EI90)
- Guarantees automated, safe operation across multiple levels
- Further integrates existing round belt conveyors and buffer sections
Our solution
Our solution includes the complete development, production and integration of a new conveyor system, including:
- Conveyor lines with a capacity of up to 2,400 containers/hour
- Vertical conveyor with lift system for transferring stacked containers to the upper floor
- Two new container stackers, each with a capacity of 1,200 containers/hour
- Branch switch for sorting containers B and E. The containers can travel on both lines for maximum capacity utilisation.
- Automated sorting and cycling before stacking to minimise unfinished stacks during type changes
- Fire protection measures in accordance with EI30/EI90, including doors and bulkheads
- Galvanised steel platform with steps and grating floor for optimum accessibility
- New control technology (PLC), sensor technology and electrical installation, including integration of existing sensor technology and RFID systems
- Complete project management: design, engineering, assembly, commissioning, testing, project management and documentation
The finished system meets all the required capacity, hygiene and safety requirements – with maximum operational reliability and efficiency.
