Inclined clarifier / lamella clarifier
The inclined or lamella clarifier is an economical and space-saving method for optimised sedimentation. Inclined clarifiers are used for solids separation, e.g. as pre-treatment prior to filtration or for final treatment after biological activation processes.
The liquid to be cleaned enters a specially dimensioned inlet chamber between the inclined plates via an inlet pipe. It enters the plates laterally via the inlet openings. The liquid rises between the plates into the discharge channel, which is equipped with throttle openings, and leaves the separator via the discharge. Sedimentation takes place during the upward flow of the liquid to be cleaned.
The solids settle on the plates and slide down into the sludge hopper. The sludge is thickened in the sludge hopper and leaves the separator through the sludge outlet. The even distribution of inflow to each plate ensures optimum operation with high performance. The lateral entry of the liquid into the sedimentation chamber between the plates prevents solids that have settled on the plates from being carried away again when the liquid flows in.
Inclined clarifiers are available in various designs depending on the area of application. The possibility of installing a ready-to-install plate package in a concrete basin allows overloaded clarifiers to be reused. For high sludge content, a design with an integrated rake can be selected.
