Screw conveyors

Continuous transport thanks to screw conveyors. Screw conveyors are continuous conveyors for all degrees of inclination. As they form a closed unit and can perform process engineering tasks, they are indispensable for corresponding tasks despite their increased power requirements compared to belt conveyors or bucket elevators.

Material is continuously conveyed by a shaft with one or more helical flights located in a pipe or trough. The prerequisite is that gravity and sufficient friction of the transported material on the walls prevent the material from rotating. Otherwise, the material only rotates transversely to the screw axis and is not transported. It is possible to transport the material horizontally, diagonally and vertically. During transport, processing steps such as mixing, dewatering or compression can be carried out.

Screw conveyors are driven by an electric motor via a reduction gear. In the case of pipe screw conveyors, inspection openings at the intermediate bearings and at the feed opening simplify maintenance and cleaning.
