Modular belt conveyors – also referred to as "modular chain conveyors" – are mainly used for the in-house transport of packaged and unpackaged unit loads or bulk goods. Unit loads of all shapes and sizes can therefore be transported in light materials handling (the main area of use of modular belt conveyors) inexpensively and in an energy-efficient manner. Modular belts have different transport properties that are used for straight, curved, spiral or any combined conveyors, depending on the requirements. The Z-type conveyor is available in a version with corrugated edge belts or cleat profiles; or else in a version with modular belt and lateral plates as well as with cleat profiles.
