Gulf Fluor LLC, Abu Dhabi (UAE)

New treatment plants for the aluminium and chemical industry were built in Abu Dhabi. Under the management of Buss Chem Tech AG in Pratteln and in cooperation with Mertec AG in Ras al Khaimah (UAE), Frei Fördertechnik AG was awarded the contract for the ship unloading system.

Client/developer: Gulf Fluor

Place: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Project: marine unloading system

Contract sum, FFAG: CHF 1,400,000.00

Year of construction: 2011

Project
Frei Fördertechnik AG took on construction management and vulcanisation for this contract. Core tasks such as project planning, drive stations and tensioning stations, carriages, hopper discharge belt and all conveyor belt elements were manufactured in Rubigen and brought to Abu Dhabi by ship. The remaining steel structures were produced locally by Mertec AG in Ras al Khaima (UAE) based on the exact plans drawn up by Frei Fördertechnik AG. The finished system consists of a Liebherr ship unloading crane, which unloads the bauxite or fluorspar delivered on barges into the feed silo. With a silo discharge belt, the material is brought in batches to the hall feed conveyor.

Special features

  • Hall statics on account of the centrally suspended conveyor belt
  • Location of the drive station of the hall feed belt and the vertical tensioning station outside the warehouse
  • Hall feed belt (length 270 m) equipped with mobile tilting table, which can feed the warehouse over a length of 200 metres
